Untitled No. 124, the Mascenic art club just returned from a trip to NYC. A group of 18 current students, 3 graduates from 2009, and 10 chaperons departed for NYC at 5am on Friday, April 30th from Mascenic High School. The group arrived first at the Guggenheim museum where they spent several hours contemplating the artworks of artists like Pablo Picasso and Edgar Degas. They were then able to walk throughout the city to a variety of destinations including the Central Park Zoo, The Museum of Art and Design, St Patrick's Cathedral, 30 Rockefeller Center, and Times Square. Everyone met for dinner at Planet Hollywood and then enjoyed the city lights as they departed for the hotel. Day two of the trip started at the Museum of Modern Art. Students viewed artworks from a variety of artists like Vincent van Gogh, Alberto Giacometti, Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and Constantin Brancusi. After the group rested for a short lunch they met on Broadway to see a matinee performance of the musical Chicago. It was a long drive back to New Ipswich because some people were very tired from the fast pace of the trip and others were still excited and chatting about the details of the past few days.
Special thanks to Christen Leger for organizing and leading the trip, to Karrie Mitschmyer for assisting in planning, to all chaperons for their energy, and to the members of Untitled No. 124 for their excitement and art appreciation. |
